CIRTL UTA: Open House Event

We will be have a campus-wide open house event this Wednesday the 23rd of August. Come learn about how you can benefit from the CIRTL Network, professional development programming and on-campus events as well as grants available for graduate students. The event will be held in Life Science 122 at noon, so please RSVP. To register, please visit www.cirtl.net/events/353.

TAR and LC Grants

Last Thursday, there was a workshop regarding writing proposals for Teaching-as-Research and Learning Community grants. If you have any questions regarding proposal submissions, please email Christopher (christopher dot abrego at mavs dot uta dot edu). Grant submissions for TAR and LC proposal are due by the end of the day August 31st.

CIRTL’s Fall Courses

This fall CIRTL is offering six online courses and one MOOC, all addressing different aspects of evidence-based STEM teaching and learning. Participants in our online courses attend real-time, online sessions. Participants in our MOOC learn through weekly online modules and interactive discussion boards. All CIRTL instructors use active learning techniques to provide a rigorous and dynamic learning environment.

Course registration opens next Monday, August 28; MOOC registration will open by the end of the month.

Creating Assessments for the STEM Classroom

Learn how to create and implement assessments particular to STEM courses.

The College Classroom: Teaching Inclusively

Study issues of inclusion and develop an inclusive micro-teaching plan in this hands-on course.

Diversity in the College Classroom

Understand the theory behind how diversity affects learning and develop practical classroom strategies.

Gender Bias Intervention in STEM for Women and Men

Analyze gender bias and collaboratively develop approaches to counter gender bias in STEM.

Fall 2017 MOOC

An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching
Runs Monday, October 2 through Friday, November 17
Learn about STEM teaching at your own pace through online video modules and discussion boards in this MOOC developed by CIRTL Network faculty. Registration will open in mid- to late August.
